Card Notifications and Updates
What are Card Notifications?
The device compares the installed card to the latest version of the card pushed as an update to determine which fields have changed. If the value of a field has changed, the device shows the message to inform the user about the change. These messages interrupt the user and must be read immediately as they are typically appropriate only for the information that is time sensitive. However, it could be used to provide any updates made to the information on the card. Different Devices exhibit different behaviors depending on the Card Wallet App installed on the device.
OS: iOS | App: Apple Wallet (previously Passbook)
Typically, an iOS device shows card notifications on the lock screen and notifications center and also, as an ‘Alert’ or ‘Banner’ on the screen. It could be configured per app from the Settings→Notifications Center on the device. The full update notification reads – “To our valued customers, we have extended the validity of this coupon. The new expiration date is 12/31/2014. Thank you for choosing Footprint Sneakers.”
OS: Android | App: PassWallet
Card updates on Android with PassWallet installed show update notifications in a little different manner than an iOS device. The full update notification reads – “To our valued customers, we have extended the validity of this coupon. The new expiration date is 12/31/2014. Thank you for choosing Footprint Sneakers.”
NOTE: This card was created for demo purposes only and does not imitate any real ‘Footprint Sneakers’ brand or card.
