USA TODAY Front Page Mobile Wallpaper Commemorates Historic News & Events
Skycore LLC, a leading mobile service provider, has today announced the selection of their Skycore.com mobile messaging platform by USA TODAY, the nation’s top selling newspaper, published by Gannett Co., Inc., to power their premium, commemorative mobile wallpapers of historic USA TODAY front pages featuring significant news and events.
USA TODAY’s mobile wallpaper featuring Super Bowl XLIII winners, the Pittsburgh Steelers, will be available beginning Monday, Feb. 2, 2009 at USA TODAY’s online store (store.usatoday.com). Each wallpaper costs $1.99 and is invoiced on the recipient’s monthly mobile phone bill. USA TODAY also offers glossy reprints of front page images and memorabilia, including mugs and t-shirts, at their online store.
Behind the scenes is Skycore.com, an online messaging platform which delivers content to mobile phones primarily through application-to-person (A2P) Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS) technology.
“Our self service MMS Composer and publishing tools uniquely enable content providers, publishers and marketers to create and deliver premium or ad-supported content very quickly, literally going from concept to publishable content within minutes,” said Rich Eicher, CEO of Skycore. “We are very proud USA TODAY selected our platform,” added Mr. Eicher.
“By adding mobile wallpapers to the USA TODAY store we are able to offer readers meaningful and exciting collectables for their phones,” said Jeff Webber, senior vice president, USATODAY.com. “This is only one of many mobile products and services planned for USA TODAY.”
